On This Day - October 29, 1938.

The Australian National Airways Douglas DC-3-232A VH-ABR 'Kanana' (quiet), having arrived as deck cargo on the ship S.S. Clydebank at Port Melbourne on October 17, was test flown at Melbourne Essendon Airport by Capt P.T.L. Taylor. It was the 3rd Douglas DC-3 to be imported into Australia.

On This Day - October 29, 1986.

The Trans-Australia Airlines Douglas DC-9-31 VH-TJP 'Charles Kingsford Smith' operated it last revenue service, operating Flight TN459 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Melbourne (Tullamarine). It was then withdrawn from service having flown 42,591 hours with 46,548 cycles.
