On This Day - October 04, 1948.

The Australian National Airways Douglas DC-3-232A VH-ABR 'Kanana' was extensively damaged when it was forced to make an emergency landing 6 km south of Browning, New South Wales, following an engine fire. The aircraft was dismantled on-site and trucked to Melbourne Essendon Airport, where it was repaired and returned to service. This was its 4th major accident.
