The Imperial Airways Short S.23C Empire Class flying boat G-ADUT 'Centaurus' was commandeered by the Australian Government when it arrived at Sydney (Rose Bay) following the outbreak of World War II on September 01. This aircraft was impressed by Royal Australian Air Force as A18-10 and allocated to No.11 Squadron for general reconnaissance duties.
