On This Day - November 15, 1972.

The Ansett Airlines of South Australia Fokker F.27-2013 Friendship VH-FNI was involved in an armed hijacking incident whilst on approach to Alice Springs (Northern Territory), whilst operating the Flight AN232 Adelaide - Alice Springs - Tennant Creek - Darwin. On landing at Alice Springs things turned nasty for the hijacker, who suffered a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head on the tarmac, while the aircraft sustained a number of shotgun pellet holes.

The Qantas Jetconnect Boeing 737-476 ZK-JTQ operated its last passenger service as Flight QF125 from Brisbane to New Zealand (Auckland). It was then withdrawn from service and stored at Auckland until it was registered to Airwork NZ on December 20.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 787-9 VH-ZNG 'Jillaroo' arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine), having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle / Boeing Field) as Flight QF6026. This aircraft was the 267th Boeing airliner delivered to Qantas and its 18th Boeing 787.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 787-9 VH-ZNJ 'Longreach' arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith), having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle) via the United Kingdom (London / Heathrow) as Flight QF6027 / 7879. This aircraft was the 270th Boeing airliner delivered to Qantas and its 21st Boeing 787.
