The Ansett Flying Boat Services Short S.25 Sunderland Mk 5 flying boat VH-BRF 'Islander' operated its first revenue service from Sydney to Lord Howe Island.

Following its repaint into the revised 'QantasLink' livery, the Boeing 717-23S VH-VQD was ferried from Newcastle to Perth via Adelaide (West Beach) on delivery to National Jet Systems as Flight QF7981. National Jet Systems had been awarded the contract to operate services for Qantas as QantasLink.
