On This Day - October 03, 1987. The Ansett Airlines Boeing 767-277 VH-RMF was involved in an unusual incident at Melbourne (Tullamarine). A female passenger invaded the cockpit whilst the aircraft was being loaded for its flight to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). The passenger, a Dr A.E.I. Bettles, was allowed to take her seat, and was then arrested when the aircraft arrived at Sydney. Charged to appear before Sydney Magistrates Court she instead fled the country using another passport via Cathay Pacific. |
