On This Day - June 13, 1974. The Ansett Flying Boat Services Short S.25 Sunderland Mk 5 VH-BRF 'Islander' was returned to immediate service following the grounding of its sister aircraft, the Short S.25 Sandringham Mk 4 Tasman Class flying boat, VH-BRC 'Beachcomber' at Lord Howe Island on June 09, 1974. At the time 'Islander' was in the process of being prepared for its sale to Antilles Air Boats Inc. |
