The Short S.23 Empire Class flying boat G-AFBJ 'Carpentaria' was officially handed over to Qantas Empire Airways at Sydney (Rose Bay) after it had completed Flight IE671 from Pakistan (Karachi). It was the 3rd 'Empire Class' flying boat to be delivered to Qantas Empire Airways but it was not reregistered as VH-ABA until September 13.
