South African Airways announced a further order for two additional airframes on August 28, 1975. This aircraft, the first of the pair, was the thirteenth Boeing 747SP to be built. Rolled out of the Boeing plant at Everett on July 28, 1976 with Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7J engines it was entered onto the South African Aircraft Register as ZS-SPD. It flew for the first time on August 27, 1976. Accepted at Paine Field on September 10, 1976 it was configured to seat 8 First Class, 28 Business Class and 224 Economy Class passengers and was named 'Majuba'.

Leased to Royal Air Maroc on March 14, 1985 it was entered onto the Moroccan Aircraft Register as CN-RMS. It was observed at Paris (Orly) Airport with a red cheat line and no titles on March 31, 1985. It was subsequently sold to Royal Air Maroc on September 04, 1986.

The aircraft was then leased to the French airline Corsair on October 13, 1994 and ferried from Casablanca to Paris (Orly) Airport. Entered onto the Luxembourg Aircraft Register as LX-ACO on October 18, 1994 it was accepted by Corsair two days later having flown some 45,000 hours. It operated its first Corsair revenue service when it flew Paris (Orly) - Bangkok on October 28, 1994.

It was entered onto the French Aircraft Register as F-GTOM on March 22, 1996 with its full French Air Worthiness Certificate having being issued on March 28. Its final seating configuration was 20 Business Class and 232 Economy Class passengers.

It was registered to Corsair Aviation SARL on December 29, 2000. In September 2002 the aircraft was retired as it required an extensive 'D' check which proved to be too expensive for the airline to carry out. It was ferried to Chateauroux, France by Captains O. Guillaume and S. Imiola and Flight Engineer J. Dumas on September 16, 2002. It was observed stored at Chateauroux minus two engines in the basic Corsair livery without titles on August 14, 2004.

By April 2005 the aircraft had lost the other two engines and other parts which were being used to maintain the Corsair Boeing 747-300 fleet.

It was observed on August 10, 2010 relatively intact. Confirmation that the aircraft has been scrapped is not available at this time. The aircraft had flown 78,148 hours with 14,983 cycles at the time of its grounding.
