This aircraft was built as a B-170-31M Freighter by the Bristol Aeroplane Company, Bristol, England Construction completed - First flown as - ? Withdrawn from service and stored at Blenheim (Woodbourne) - ? The centre section and wings were removed from the ex Ansett-MAL aircraft 'VH-BFB' - November 1967 They were then mated to the fuselage of this aircraft This aircraft was virtually a 'new' zircraft created from the rebuild It was entered onto the New Zealand Aircraft Register as ZK-CVY - November 23, 1967 Registered to Safeair, Woodbourne It was named 'Merchant Porter' and later 'Merchant Wayfarer' Entered service with SAFE Air - December 18, 1967 The engines were removed and fitted to another SAFE Air Bristol Freighter 'ZK-CRM' - November 1969 New engines were fitted to 'ZK-CVY' and it returned to service - January 31, 1970 It was withdrawn from service at Blenheim (Woodbourne) - December 14, 1981 It had flown 26,889 hours with 44,384 cycles Cancelled from the New Zealand Aircraft Register - March 25, 1982 Its remains were observed at Woodbourne in 1984, and it was totally scrapped shortly thereafter |
