The Ansett Airlines Boeing 727-277A VH-RMV was badly damaged on landing at Melbourne (Tullamarine) whilst operating Flight AN1183 from Coolangatta. The starboard undercarriage leg passed up through the wing due to the heavy landing. The aircraft was repaired and returned to service.

The Boeing 767-35HER C-GGBJ, having been repainted into the Ansett Australia livery in preparation for its sub-lease to Ansett, was ferried from Toronto to Montreal (Canada) ready for hand-over. The aircraft was never delivered as Ansett cancelled the sub-lease before it suspended all operations on September 13.
