The Ansett Airlines Boeing 737-277A VH-CZM, that had been leasaed to Polynesian Airlines, departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) on its ferry flight to the United States (Seattle, Paine Field) as Flight AN551. It was sold to the Wilmington Trust Co, who then leased it to America West Airlines. |

On This Day - October 03, 1987. The Ansett Airlines Boeing 767-277 VH-RMF was involved in an unusual incident at Melbourne (Tullamarine). A female passenger invaded the cockpit whilst the aircraft was being loaded for its flight to Sydney (Kingsford Smith). The passenger, a Dr A.E.I. Bettles, was allowed to take her seat for the flight, and was then arrested when the aircraft arrived at Sydney. Charged to appear before the Sydney Magistrates Court she instead fled the country using another passport via Cathay Pacific. |

It was not reregistered as VH-TJI until October 27. |
