The Barrier Reef Airways Short S.25 Sandringham Mk 4 flying boat VH-BRC 'Coral Clipper' operated its final scheduled service. It was then withdrawn from use and stored at Brisbane (Hamilton Reach), with its registration cancelled.

The Trans Oceanic Airways Short S.45 Solent Mk 3 flying boat VH-TOD 'Somerset' operated its last passenger service. It was then withdrawn from service and stored at Sydney (Rose Bay) until it was sold in April 1953.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138B VH-EBM 'City of Launceston' departed Sydney (Kingsford Smith) on the proving flight to the United Kingdom (London, Heathrow) via the 'Fiesta' route. This 12,562 mile route involved stops at Nadi - Papeete - Acapulco - Mexico City - Nassau - Bermuda - London.

The Adastra Aerial Surveys Douglas C-47B-35-DK VH-AGU was sold to East-West Airlines Pty Ltd. The aircraft was then converted to performance test the 'Interscan Instrument Landing System'.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 767-338ER VH-OGT was utilised by Soccer Australia to transport the Australian Soccer Team from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Uruguay (Montevideo) as Flight QF6097. The 'Socceroos' were playing in a Soccer World Cup qualifying match. The return flight was on November 14.

The Qantas Airways / Air Nauru Boeing 737-4L7 VH-RON, having been sold to Comair (British Airways), South Africa and reregistered as ZS-OAA, departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) on its delivery flight to South Africa (Johannesburg).

It was returned to service later that day, operating Flight QF997 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Hobart.
