On This Day - June 28, 1956.

The Qantas Airways Douglas C-47A-1-DK VH-EBF was badly damaged in a landing accident as Sydney (Kingsford Smith) whilst engaged in a pilot training exercise. The trainee pilot inadvertently applied the toe brakes on touchdown which caused the aircraft to tip-over onto its nose. It was repaired and returned to service.

On This Day - June 28, 1958.

The ex-Royal Australian Air Force Douglas C-47B-35-DK A65-109, having been purchased by the Commercial Aviation Company, Perth was ferried from RAAF Base Pearce to Perth Airport by a RAAF crew. The aircraft was then converted to a Douglas DC-3-S1C3G 'civil standard' by MacRobertson Miller Airline engineers.

On This Day - June 28, 1977.

The Air Niugini Douglas DC-3C-S1C3G VH-MMD, now registered as P2-ANU, was withdrawn from service at Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea) and prepared for sale to Travmar Holdings Pty Ltd (Mascot, Sydney). The preparations included a complete repaint of the aircraft into the 'Travmar' livery.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 767-277 VH-RME entered service, operating Flight AN8 from Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith).

The Ansett Airlines of South Australia Fokker F.27-2101 Friendship VH-MMR 'Sir Hans Heysen' was ferried from Adelaide to Melbourne (Tullamarine) to commence operations with Ansett Airlines. It entered service later that day operating Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Wynyard (Tasmania).

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 737-377 VH-CZO, having been leased to America West Airlines due to the protracted 'Australian pilots dispute' as N114AW, arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine) having completed its ferry flight from the United States at the end of the lease. It was reregistered as VH-CZO on July 02.

The Flight West Airlines de Havilland Canada DHC-8-102A VH-XFU was ferried from Brisbane to New Zealand (Christchurch) on sub-lease to Ansett New Zealand for six months, to cover the recent loss of their DHC-8 ZK-NEY. It was reregistered as ZK-NEV the same day.

The Qantas Foundation Memorial Ltd purchased the original Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138 VH-EBA 'City of Melbourne' that had been in open storage in the United Kingdom (Southend). It was reregistered as VH-XBA and prepared for its ferry flight to Australia.
