On This Day - July 22, 1976.

The Ansett-ANA Vickers Viscount 747 VH-RMO was finally broken-up for scap at Melbourne (Essendon). Its intended sale to Pan Indonesian Airlines many years earlier did not eventuate, and the aircraft sat in the Essendon Airport graveyard in a hybrid livery.

The Travmar Holdings Pty Ltd Douglas DC-3C-S1C3G P2-ANU arrived at Sydney (Bankstown) having completed its delivery flight from Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea). It was reregistered as VH-MMD on August 12, before it entered service.

The Trans-Australia Airlines Airbus A300B4-203 VH-TAA 'James Cook' entered service, operating Flight TN534 from Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Sydney (Kingsford Smith).

The Ansett Airlines of South Australia Fokker F.27-2101 Friendship VH-MMR 'Sir Hans Heysen' operated its final revenue service, operating Flight AN857/858 from Melbourne (Tullamarine) - Devonport (Tasmania) - Melbourne (Tullamarine). It was then withdrawn from use and stored at Melbourne (Tullamarine) having flown 52,587 hours with 53,493 cycles.

The Ansett New Zealand British Aerospace 146-300 ZK-NZJ 'City of Nelson', was unveiled at Christchurch (New Zealand) with children's artwork to highlight the airline's contribution to the 'Children's Trust' which Ansett New Zealand founded in 1991, and to celebrate the airline's 10th birthday.
