The Ansett Airlines of South Australia Fokker F.27-2101 Friendship VH-MMR was rolled out in the airline's new 'Piping Shrike' livery. The aircraft was later named 'Sir Hans Heysen'.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 737-277 VH-CZN was badly damaged whilst landing at Apia (Samoa) when it stuck some donkeys that were on the runway. Part of one donkey was injested into Number 2 engine. It was operating a Polynesian Airlines service at the time. The aircraft was unserviceable for 3 days.

The Ansett New Zealand British Aerospace 146-200QC ZK-NZC 'City of Manukua' operated its final passenger service, as Flight AN789 from Wellington (New Zealand) to Christchurch (New Zealand). It was sold to Titan Airways (United Kingdom) in September 1999.

The ex-Royal Australian Navy Hawker Siddeley HS-748-2-268 N15-709, now owned by Horizon Airlines Pty Ltd, and registered as 3C-QQP, arrived at Sydney (Bankstown) having completed its delivery flight from the United Kingdom (Norwich). It was intended to fit a large rear cargo door to the aircraft, but as Horizon was placed in 'administration' on October 14, 2003, this did not happen.
