The United States Army Air Force Douglas C-47-DL '41-19465' was handed over to the Department of Civil Aviation for use by Australian airlines under the 'lend-lease' agreement, having been converted to 'civilian' standards at Brisbane. It was registered as VH-AEU the following day.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 727-277A VH-RMP operated its last revenue service, operating Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Melbourne (Tullamarine). This aircraft was the first Ansett Boeing 727-277A to be withdrawn from service, having flown 20,892 hours with 16,452 cycles.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 737-838 VH-XZH 'McLaren Vale' arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Seattle / Boeing Field) as Flight QF6024. It was the airline's 190th Boeing airliner and its 70th Boeing 737.

The REX - Regional Express Boeing 737-8FE VH-PAG operated its final service as Flight ZL161 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Melbourne (Tullamarine). It had not flown since that date and was stored at Melbourne (Tullamarine) when the airline entered voluntary administration on July 30.
