The Ansett-ANA Sikorsky S-61N VH-BRI helicopter departed Melbourne (Essendon) on its ferry flight to Brisbane, which took two days. It was then named 'Golden Islander' at Brisbane on March 01 by the Queensland Minister for Tourism at a special naming ceremony, before it was ferried to Proserpine later that day.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 737-476 VH-TJX 'Trust' operated it last passenger service as Flight QF815 from Canberra to Melbourne (Tullamarine). It was then withdrawn from use and prepared for its ferry flight to the United States for storage.

The Virgin Australia Boeing 737-8FE VH-YVA 'Eurong Beach' operated its last service, as Flight VA965 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Brisbane. It was then ferried to Townsville as Flight VA9930 for repainting into the Tigerair livery by Flying Colors.
