On This Day - February 06, 1981.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 747SP-38 VH-EAA 'City of Gold Coast Tweed' entered service, operating Flight QF55 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to New Zealand (Wellington). However due to bad weather, the flight was diverted to Auckland, where it overnighted before being ferried to Wellington the next day.

On This Day - February 06, 1987.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 737-277A VH-CZR, having been withdrawn from service on February 01, departed Melbourne (Tullamarine) on its ferry flight to the United States (Seattle, Paine Field) as Flight AN556. It was sold to the Wilmington Trust Co, who reregistered it as N183AW and leased it to America West Airlines.
