On This Day - February 27, 1942. The Royal Australian Air Force Short S.23 'Empire' Class Flying Boat A18-12 was destroyed whilst landing at Townsville, Queensland. The aircraft was engaged in a test-flight having undergone maintenance there. |
On This Day - February 27, 1977. The Qantas Airways Douglas DC-4-1009 VH-EDA 'Pacific Trader' operated its final passenger service, as Flight QF436/437 from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) to Norfolk Island - Sydney (Kingsford Smith). It was then withdrawn from service and stored awaiting sale at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) having flown 55,120 hours with 9,807 cycles. |
