The Qantas Empire Airways Short S-25 Sandringham Mk 4 'Tasman Class' VH-EBX 'Pacific Chieftain' was sold to Ansett Flying Boat Services to replace their Short S-25 Sandringham flying boat VH-BRD 'Princess of Cairns' that had sunk whilst moored overnight on the Brisbane River on October 31, 1952. It was reregistered as VH-BRE on December 22.
