On This Day - August 19, 1948.

The Qantas Empire Airways Douglas C-47A-20-DL VH-EAM crashed on take-off at Brisbane (Archerfield). This accident was caused by crossed aileron cables, that had been inadequately inspected during overhaul. The aircraft required extensive repairs / rebuild before it returned to service.

The Trans-Australia Airlines Vickers 756C Viscount VH-TVL 'George Evans' operated its final passenger service. It was then withdrawn from use and stored at Brisbane (Eagle Farm) awaiting its fate.

On This Day - August 19, 1976.

The Ansett Airlines Boeing 727-277A VH-RMU was badly damaged at Melbourne (Tullamarine) when the senior hostess lowered the rear passenger door onto a freight barrow that had been parked under the aircraft's tail. A tug driver then drove off with the freight barrow, ripping the entire door off the aircraft, causing over $100,000 damage.

The Qantas Airways Douglas DC-4-1009 VH-EDA 'Pacific Trader' was sold to Air Express, Melbourne. The aircraft was renamed 'Tasmanian Enterprise'.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 767-338ER VH-OGB 'City of Kalgoorlie', having been wet-leased to Air Pacific for 1 month, operated its last service as Flight FJ921 from Nadi (Fiji) to Brisbane.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 787-9 VH-ZNF 'Boomerang' arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine) having completed its delivery flight from the United States (Everett, Paine Field) as Flight QF6026. It was the airline's 266th Boeing airliner and its 17th Boeing 787.
