On This Day - August 01, 1946.

The ex-United States Army Air Force Douglas C-47A-20-DL '42-23488' having been acquired by MacRobertson Miller Airlines in June 1946, arrived at Perth (Jandacot) having completed its delivery flight from the Philippines (Clarke Field, Manila). It was then converted to civilian standards before being registered as VH-AXM on March 11, 1947.

On This Day - August 01, 1953.

The recently acquired East-West Airlines Douglas DC-3 VH-EAM operated the promotional flight from Sydney (Kingsford Smith) - West Wyalong - Cowra - Sydney (Kingsford Smith) prior to entering service full-time. It was reregistered as VH-EWA on September 01.

The Qantas Airways Boeing 707-138 VH-EBA 'City of Melbourne' was ferried to the United States (Seattle) for conversion by Boeing to a Boeing 707-138B standard, fitted with new Pratt & Whitney JT3D-1 turbo-fan engines.
