Trans-Australia Airline pilots began a 39-day strike over the airline's 'two-man' crewing of their Douglas DC-9 aircraft. This strike does not affect Ansett-ANA, as its owner, Reg Ansett had agreed to a 'third' flight crew member in the cockpit of its Douglas DC-9 aircraft.
