On This Day - December 12, 1963.

With assistance from the Australian Government, Ansett Flying Boat Services purchased the Royal New Zealand Air Force Short S.25 Sunderland Mk V flying boat NZ4108. It was acquired by AFBS to replace their Short S.25 Sandringham Mk 4 Tasman Class flying boat VH-BRE 'Pacific Chieftain' that had been destroyed at Lord Howe Island on July 03, 1963.

On This Day - December 12, 1967.

Qantas Airways' 25th Boeing airliner - the Boeing 707-338C VH-EAA 'City of Toowoomba' - arrived at Sydney (Kingsford Smith), having completed its delivery flight from the United States via London. It was also operating its first revenue service - a freight service - as Flight QF702/002 from London (Heathrow) - Colombo - Sydney.

The Air New Zealand Link Bombardier DHC-8-311Q C-FIOS arrived at New Zealand (Nelson), having completed its delivery flight from Canada (Toronto / Downsview). It was reregistered as ZK-NEO on December 15 before it entered service.
